Mylavaram Reservoir is constructed across Pennar River with a gross storage capacity of 9.960 TMC near Mylavaram Village in YSR Kadapa District for providing irrigation potential to an extent of 75,000 acres. The construction of the project and formation of canals were completed by the end of 1981-82 and the distributary system was completed by 1985-86. The reservoir consists of two main canals viz. MR South Canal & MR North Canal having an extent of 25,000 acres & 50,000 acres of ayacut respectively. The actual ayacut created is 70,590 Acres.
Preamble
An Anicut was constructed during year 1973 to divert water into Pulivendula Brach Canal system and PBC system is an integral part of TBP HLC system and prorate entitlement of water is 4.40 TMC at TB Dam and 2.00TMC from self catchment. The PBC system receives water from Km 72.00 of Mid Pennar south Canal and runs Km from Tumpera Deep Cut, then after it runs 10.00 Km length in Hosuramma Vanka to reach Chitravathi River and then 11.00Km in Chitravathi River to reach Anicut near Goddumarri Village of Yellanur Mandal of Ananthapur District. Due to scarcity rain fall and depending up of release of water from TBP HLC system is not fully satisfactory. Hence the Chitravathi Balancing Reservoir is constructed across Chitravathi River near Parnapalli village of LIngala Mandal of YSR Kadapa District with a storage capacity of 10.00TMC and completed the Reservoir during the 2009.

3. Kurnool - Kadapa Canal
Preamble
The Kurnool - Cuddapah Canal Project, a part of Tungabhadra Sub Basin of Krishna Basin is a 143 years old irrigation system in Andhra Pradesh. A private Dutch Company called Madras Irrigation Canal Co.Ltd.,had constructed this canal system during 1863-1870 for providing navigation facility as well as irrigation. The irrigation supplies required for K.C Canal System are diverted from Tungabhadra River by means of anicut constructed across this river at Sunkesula. The Tungabhadra Sub Basin is a part of Krishna Basin. As per KWDT award the allocation of assessed flows of Tungabhadra Basin and Vedavathi ( Hagari ) Sub Basin for existing and future projects in A.P. is 3929 cubic meters. Out of this the K.C Canal share is 1130 cubic meter (39.90 TMC). The project comprised of an anicut across river Tungabhadra, a tributary of river Krishna, at Sunkesula Village in Kurnool District and a 305.60 KM long navigation-cum-irrigation canal. The canal named as K.C Canal, which takes off from the right bank of the Sunkesula anicut traverses via Kurnool City and Cuddapah Town and terminates near Krishnapuram in Cuddapah District. The Designed Discharge of K.C.Canal is 3,000 C/s. The total localized ayacut under K.C Canal system is 2,65,628 Acres. There are 2 system tanks in Kurnool District and 13 system tanks in Cuddapah District under K.C Canal System.
The K.C Canal is unique in its perception and features it consists of the 4 anicuts namely
1. Sunkesula anicut across Thungabhadra River.
2. Santhajutur anicut across Galeru River.
3. Rajoli anicut across Kundu river and
4. Adnimmayapalli anicut across Penna River.

MAJOR ONGOING PROJECTS
1. Galeru Nagari Sujala Sravanthi Project
Preamble
Rayalaseema in Andhra Pradesh is a Semi Arid Zone with scanty and erratic rainfall and has been identified as a chronically drought effected area by the Irrigation Commission (Govt. of India 1972)
Since the times of Sir Arthur Cotton proposals were formulated to provide Krishna water to Rayalaseema for drinking and irrigation to eradicate drought and famine.
To arrest desertification process in this region, G.N.S.S scheme is an important step contemplated by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh conceived in G.O.Ms.No.236, dated.22.9.1988.
The scheme envisages drawl of 38.00 TMC of surplus flood waters of River Krishna from foreshore of Srisailam Reservoir and convey them through Pothireddipadu Head Regulator, SRMC, Banakacherla Cross Regulator, SRBC, Gorakallu Reservoir, Owk Reservoir & GNSS Flood Flow Canal/Tunnel to Gandikota Reservoir. The GNSS main canal takes off from Gandikota Reservoir and runs for a length of about 344 KM feeding 10 Reservoirs enroute.

It is a medium irrigation project and was maintained by the irrigation section, Porumamilla for Irrigation sub-division, Badvel under irrigation division, Kadapa. Later the anicut along with its 10 feeder tanks and 5 Nos of water users associations was transferred from Medium irrigation department to NTR.TGP.Division, Porumamilla for NTR TGP Circle, Kadapa under the control of the Chief Engineer (Projects), Irrigation, Kadapa as per the Govt. Memo.No.18955/Maj.Irrgn.V/2010, dt.7.3.2011.
The Upper Sagileru anicut have one regulator with 6 Nos of vents and escape / scouring regulator with 3 Nos of vents. The regulator gates are intact and requires minor repairs and painting.
The anicut body wall, abutments, wings, returns and solid apron are in good condition. Major portion of tanks on the D/s of apron was washed away and retrogression took place on the D/s side of apron. This damaged portion has to be rectified immediately to safeguard against further damage.
The Upper Sagileru project anicut was intended to feed 10 Nos of tanks with its feeder channel in PTS channel upto Porumamilla tank namely,
1) Kalasapadu tank |
2) Pendlimarri tank |
3) Pidugupalli tank |
4) Akkasiddupalli tank |
5) Chinthalapalli tank |
6) Porumamilla tank |
7) Markapuram tank |
8) Rangasamudram tank |
