Preamble

Veetivagu is a Major Drain in Krishna River Basin. It originates from Kondaveedu hill ranges near Medikonduru village and flows in the village limits of Mandepudi, Nemalikallu, Unguturu, Endroy/ chavapadu and Pedamadduru in Guntur District. It confluence with river Krishna near Vykuntapuram (V) in Amaravathi (M).

Salient features
Location : Veetivagu is a Major Drain in Krishna River Basin . It originates from Kondaveedu hill ranges near Medikonduru village and flows in the village limits of Mandepudi, Nemalikallu,Unguturu,Endroy,chavapadu and Pedamadduru in Guntur Dt. It confluence with river Krishna near Vykuntapuram (V) in Amaravathi (M).
Catchment Area : The Drain is not a notified Drain. The C.A.of the Drain is about 50 Sq.miles (UCA) and it runs for a length of 33.300 K.Ms and finally infalls into the river Krishna near Vykuntapuram (V). It also get confluenced by a major drain called Meda vagu before it confluence with river Krishna.
Mandals Effected : It causes obstruction to the traffic during flood times and causes the inundation to the fields in the mandals of Medikonduru, Amaravathi, Tadikonda, and Thulluru . It also causes inundation of agricultural land beside causing loss of human life .The drain was provided with low level causeways at different road crossings which are causing major obstruction for free flow of flood water. There were incidents when humun loss occurred in considerable number during floods.
