SANJEEVAIAH SAGAR (GAJULADINNE) PROJECT
Background and Preamble.
This project renamed as Sanjeevaiah Sagar is a Medium Irrigation Project constructed across Handri river a tributary to Tungabhadra in Krishna basin near Gajuladinne village in Gonegandla mandal of Kurnool District. The project provides irrigation facilities to 24,372 acres of I.D. Crop in rabi season covering 21 villages in 4 Mandals of Kurnool District viz., Gonegandla (9 No.), Kodumur (5 Nos.), Krishnagiri (6 Nos.) and Devankonda (1 No.).
Hence Modernization of the project is taken up with JICA Loan Assistance at a cost of Rs.46.31 crores. The agency has been fixed on 8-6-2011 with concurrence of JICA.The proposed modernization covers strengthening of the earthen bund, repairs of left head regulator and right side head regulator and mechanical works for spillway and head sluices, lining of both right and left side canals
